Share Your In-House Lesson Plans

The LSC Staff webpage is now hosting a central location for library lesson plans that you would like to share with other librarians in the district.

These popular lesson plans have previously been shared through email. Having a central location may be the most convenient way to access these when needed, since individual storage can be difficult to manage.

Lesson plans are arranged by category. To list your plans, email the the document to Adrianne at the Library Services Center and indicate which category placement you would like.

The first lesson plan "Be an Armchair Traveler" has been contributed by Heather Purcell and is located HERE.

Ingram Book Company's I-Page Access

Beginning January 2007, the Library Services Center is faced with a price increase from Ingram. Our monthly access fee to the online book selection site, Professional I-Page, will be increasing 5%. Our options are to pay now for a year's subscription at the current rate which is $124.89/mo. for a total of $1,498.68, or downgrade to the Essential I-Page access service which is FREE to schools.

The only differences are the Professional version allows access to the "Ingram Extended titles database" which includes publisher information on books that Ingram does NOT carry, and a button link to "SID Search" which is a Supplier/Publisher address Information Database. See the Comparison Chart for a description of all the features of both.

After surveying all of the school district librarians, it was determined that the features of the Professional I-Page access was not used sufficiently to warrant keeping it. We are now in the process of changing to Essential I-Page access. The change should be seamless, and the selection lists, User IDs and Passwords will remain the same.

Ingram Book's New Pricing

As of September 4, 2006 Ingram's standard book discount went from 35% to 32%. The short discount titles (prebound, etc.) remains at 10% discount.

To offset this "price increase", they are now offering FREE SHIPPING (which was normally around 3-4% for Oregon warehouse deliveries, higher for Tennessee warehouse). We will also NO LONGER need to create a separate selection list for titles only available in the Tennessee warehouse.

The catch is, your selection list order needs to have at least 10 books available at either Oregon or Tennessee.

Available books are: in-stock, in-stock greenlight, on-order greenlight, street smart (soon to be published), temporarily out-of-stock and on-order.

Unavailable books are: "Publisher out-of-print", or "Not available at Ingram".

Another "catch" is, there will now only be TWO shipments per order. The first shipment will consist of your titles in-stock at Oregon and/or Tennessee warehouses  and will ship right away. The second shipment will consist of all backordered titles available 30 days later. In other words, they will hold all of the backorders that arrive within the next 30 days, and then ship these to us.

The only thing we need to be aware of is when we pre-order titles that are yet-to-be-published (Street Smart). Those titles will need to come available for release within the 30 days or will be dropped after the second shipment.

So, to sum up...

  • Before I order, your selection list needs to have a total of at least 10 titles available at Ingram.

  • We can combine books available at either OREGON or TENNESSEE on the same
    selection list
    .

  • Any backorders will come all at the same time, 30 days later. Those backorders not yet in-stock at that time will need to be re-ordered.
